We only have to say the words "single figure handicap" to prove that Rob's no stranger to hard work. Golf clubs aside, his hardworking nature is how he built AP Group from start-up to the largest specialised pharmacy brokerage in the country. And he's showing no sign of slowing down (his two young, energetic daughters will make sure of that, too).
Thought leader. Problem solver. Big picture thinker. They're a few of the words often used to describe Rob.
He's worked in the pharmacy space for more than 2 decades — from franchise development at Terry White Chemmart to Operations Manager of the Pharmasave Group. He's also held roles in branded OTC products, generic and branded medicines, brand development and pharmacy group operations. With a resume like this, it's easy to see why there are few people in the pharmacy industry with such diverse knowledge as Rob.
When asked what he loves most about his role, Rob is particularly proud of the team they've built. Each individual brings their own unique experience to the role, all coming together to form a close-knit team with shared goals. For Rob, being able to have a positive impact on their career (and life) is what gets him out of bed each morning. Well, that and having to make the school lunches.
Andrew is a tragic for cycling, whether it's the Dandenongs, Mornington Peninsula or picturesque trails through France (though some might argue it's more about the mates and coffee stops). When he's not out pedalling his bike or looking after his two marvellous kids, he's pedalling through pharmacy finance and strategy development.
Having been with AP Group since the beginning, Andrew has more than a decade experience in pharmacy and is an asset to the sales and finance division. He's a numbers wizard, people person and go-getter — currently leading a project that'll see AP Group become the first 100% carbon neutral pharmacy brokerage in the country.
Before AP Group, Andrew spent more than a decade in the telecommunications and media industry. That is, 7 years at Telstra in a variety of senior management roles and 3 years in the United Kingdom managing the commercial function for British Sky Broadcasting — a time when it was the fastest growing broadband provider in the UK.
An interesting fact about Andrew: he once participated in a new medical trial to use Botox on a football injury (not for wrinkles, although maybe that's required). While it didn't fix the injury (or the wrinkles) it does say something about Andrew's character — eager, active, helpful and innovative. So it's no surprise he loves helping customers with some of the biggest decisions they will ever make — buying a home or investing in a pharmacy — and showing them what's truly possible.
Don't let the suit fool you. On the weekends you'll find Jack fly fishing, camping with his kids, rock pooling or cheering for the Tiges (a shame, we know). And just like you'll find Jack excelling in several outdoor hobbies, you'll also find he's excelled across several industries in various roles. From owning small businesses to running bars to working as a strategic consultant for ING — Jack is a man of many talents.
Having bought, built and sold several small businesses over the last 15 years, Jack knows a thing or two about the mechanics of business — and he draws on this experience to help you buy or sell your pharmacy with confidence.
Business aside, Jack has thrived in several senior roles. He worked as a Strategic Consultant for ING (responsible for assessing the existing asset portfolio, feasibility analysis' and strategic modelling). He also worked as a Strategist and Project Manager at Right Angle Studios, responsible for strategic insights that would inform the overall business strategy. See we told you, a man of many talents.
Sports enthusiast and self-confessed lawn addict, Ian spends his spare time keeping fit and tending to his freshly manicured front lawn. What’s good news for you, he puts the same amount of care and attention toward his pharmacy clients — having sold more than 120 pharmacies across all parts of Queensland and NT.
Having worked in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 40 years, we’re yet to find anyone in Queensland who’s better placed to help you with your pharmacy sale, purchase or junior partnership. Ian’s career began at Alphapharm in 1984 as one of their first employees, and since this time he’s held several roles in the industry — including sales management roles and being part of the Arrow Pharmaceuticals entrepreneurial team that shaped an emerging private prescription market in Australia and re-invented generics through cross-licenced products.
Ian established IF Business Broking in 2008, building it from start up to one of the most successful pharmacy broking businesses in Queensland. In 2019, IF Business Broking merged with AP Group, which marks the beginning of his time here.
What really shines through with Ian is his genuine passion for helping people — whether you’re the experienced pharmacist looking to wind down and retire, or the young and energised pharmacist looking to make their first purchase.
Something we love around the office is our Friday updates on how Will's basketball team, the Skwids, have performed the night before. A slight hunch in the shoulders is the only hint of a bad game as Will always seems to bring a good mood to the office. So, perhaps it's no surprise he's so positive and pro-active at helping clients with buying, selling, and negotiating pharmacy transactions. In more recent years, he's added lease negotiations to his offerings, complementing his genuine love for helping pharmacists achieve their goals.
Will understands that pharmacy sales is all about people. Luckily for him, he's been described as approachable, transparent, reliable and responsive. In his early career, he worked as an English Teacher and Journalist, giving him exceptional communication skills and the ability to present data in its most clear and meaningful form. An asset to negotiations and the AP Group team.
Above all else, he loves working within a close-knit team, helping pharmacists achieve their goals and connecting with people along the way. Just don't ask him who he barracks for (tragically, it's Tigers).
An infectious personality, family man and golf enthusiast. David is the kind of guy you'll meet in person and leave feeling more energised than when you arrived. If he could play golf twice a day, every day, he would. But for now, he fits golf around his four kids and genuine love for helping pharmacists reach their goals. Busy guy.
Before entering the retail pharmacy industry, David owned and operated the Austral Hotel in Adelaide for 12 years. His personable nature, charisma and passion for hospitality saw him grow the business to an iconic hotel recognised by almost every South Australian (and beyond).
When it was time for a career change, David embraced the opportunity to enter the pharmacy space, bringing his hardworking and adaptable nature to the role. When asked what he loves about the role, it's hands down the people, relationships, travel and using different parts of his brain.
Whether it's swimming from Rottnest to Cottesloe, cycling through the Italian Alps or taking up water polo — Chris is a full-time “doer.” He still hasn't achieved his lifetime goal of being on the Nutri-Grain box, but he has some rather impressive runs on the board when it comes to pharmacy — so that's pretty much the same thing.
After more than two decades in the retail pharmacy industry, Chris has the in-depth knowledge, industry relationships and leadership skills to help you reach your pharmacy goals — whatever they may be.
Prior to joining AP Group, Chris was a key member of Terry White Management and Sigma Retail's executive leadership teams. During his time at Terry White, he successfully increased the brand from 80 stores to over 400 stores across Australia. A rather impressive feat. Chris is also qualified as a nationally accredited mediator, giving him the ability to negotiate successful outcomes in complex commercial matters.
This impressive combination of work history and education makes Chris an asset to the AP Group team and our clients. We'll just ignore the fact he's a Kangaroos supporter.
Aaron was voted the nicest guy in the office! He is the team PT and encourages us all to get out and exercise at lunch time. With a career that's seen him coaching at Australia's top swimming club and swimming through the tech-savvy waters of Apple, Aaron brings a unique blend of precision and efficiency to our team.
He's our go-to guru for all things during a settlement process and is seriously good at making sure milestones are being achieved and projects are delivered on time.
Aaron has a knack for building relationships that outlast the latest iPhone, and he's all about optimising operations with the meticulousness of an architect planning his next masterpiece.
Not only does Aaron hold a degree from RMIT, but he's also had the honour of learning from the big shots in the pharmacy world.
Outside of his professional prowess, Aaron's a fanatical admirer of architecture, a fitness fanatic, and a sports enthusiast. Whether he's diving into swimming, racing through Formula 1 stats, or tackling the NFL, he's always in the game. Plus, he's got an eye on the ever-changing world of tech – the gadgets and gizmos that make the future look pretty darn cool.
Leo is a solicitor who balances his passion for law with a love of golf—where he’s known to have an impressive handicap of 6. After earning his law degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, he was recently admitted as a member of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Since joining the AP Group team as a paralegal, Leo has been a reliable and proactive presence, always ready to dive into complex legal matters. His sharp attention to detail and commitment to continuous learning keep him ahead of the curve, ensuring he finds the best solutions for his clients.
When he’s not meticulously reviewing legal documents, Leo is likely perfecting his swing on the golf course. His approach to both law and golf is marked by a drive to achieve the best outcomes—whether that’s for his clients or his next round.
Meet Tugba Mimi, AP Group’s Paralegal and part-time business mogul. Tugba holds a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University and a Graduate Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University. When she’s not deep in legal documents, she’s busy running her successful online business—one she built from scratch, developing her own products as well as doing all the sourcing for them. We’re still trying to figure out when she sleeps!
Before joining AP Group, Tugba spent five years in the finance industry, sharpening her legal and financial know-how.
Outside of juggling legal cases and business deals, Tugba enjoys hitting the tennis court, exploring new places, and cooking. We’re thrilled to have her on board!
Matt is a solutions guy. Whether it's training his two sausage dogs (Sassy and Lenny), learning different plant varieties, or helping his clients with complex lending — he enjoys being presented with a challenge and finding ways to overcome it. His finance journey began in 2018 when he moved to Melbourne from Adelaide (some might also say this was for better access to AFL).
Before joining AP Group, Matt trained as a mortgage broker with one of the largest construction finance brokers in the state. He worked closely with several experts in the field — setting him up with the knowledge, experience and skillset he has today.
For Matt, he loves the combination of complex finance work and giving excellent customer service. He's personable, dedicated and responsive, working tirelessly to find finance solutions to help you achieve your goals.
Michael Choi joins us with a diverse background that spans from the international golf fairways to international business —and now to finance broking. Michael's early years were spent chasing birdies as a professional golfer. After representing the Victorian State Team Colts and securing an Athlete Scholarship with the Victorian Institute of Sport, he turned pro in 2007. Touring the world on various PGA circuits, he learned the importance of strategy, precision, and staying cool under pressure - skills that are just as valuable in finance as they are in golf.
Trading in his clubs (mostly) for a new career challenge, Michael shifted to the leather trade as Operations Manager at Cost Price Sheepskin Company Pty. Ltd. There, he oversaw global exports of high-quality sheepskins, becoming an expert in managing complex transactions and building relationships with top fashion brands and automotive companies.
Now, as a finance broker at AP Group, Michael combines his global experience, strategic mindset, and relationship-building skills to help clients navigate the financial landscape. Fluent in Korean and with a taste for fine wine (he’s completed a course in Wine Studies), Michael brings a worldly perspective to every deal. When he's not busy broking, he enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his young children - who he's slowly convincing that finance is just as thrilling as golf… or at least as rewarding.
When you picture an IT consultant, you probably don’t picture a keen surfer, fisherman and family man firing up the BBQ. But, that’s Phoenix. He also knows how to come up with savvy IT solutions that improve our productivity and efficiency — so that’s rather handy.
With over 18 years IT experience in various sectors across Australia, Asia and the USA, Phoenix knows his way around a computer. His speciality lies in developing and implementing IT solutions for front-end and back-end development, social media, CRM systems, ERP systems and infrastructure upgrades.
More than that, Phoenix has an impressive work history, advising leading companies like Sony, CH1, Macquarie Group, Fast Retailing CO and Jetstar. Today, what he loves most about his role at AP Group is the team — it’s like one big happy family.
A keen surfboat rower (you'll want to Google that), Dee has an adventurous spirit and zest for life that's contagious to those around her. When she's not rowing a boat into 6 foot swells, she's riding the brand and marketing wave, successful implementing marketing strategies for more than 15 years.
To put it simply, Dee knows marketing. She takes a one-size-does-not-fit-all approach, having learnt leading marketing practices from not just Australia, but around the world. Before joining AP Group, Dee worked as the creative director at a leading marketing agency, filling her marketing portfolio with a range of industries — from sports to tourism to fashion.
As for credibility, Dees got it. She's been published in Marketing Magazine (2017) and graduated a Master of Marketing with Distinction. What drew her to AP Group was undeniably the culture. She feels right at home amongst a team that loves coming to work and is dedicated to continuous improvement.
Kathy shares a birthday with Matt Damon, so naturally, she's convinced he could be her long-lost twin. While she patiently waits for him to reach out and share his fortune, she keeps busy taking care of the behind the scenes at AP Group, as well as a busy household of four. She's our go-to person for so many things — assisting with pharmacy sales, trust account management, finance applications, legal operations and more.
Kathy is organised, experienced and adaptable — perfect traits for our "everything" person, if you ask us.
Before joining AP Group in 2016, Kathy held long term business operations roles in various industries, from scientific research through to online publishing. In these roles, Kathy learnt a great deal about process development and improvement, systems implementation, quality management and support. No wonder she's so good at her job today.
Organised is Elizabeth's middle name. Not really, but we think it should be. A lover of mystery novels, travel and beaches, Elizabeth is an essential piece to the AP Group puzzle. She offers administrative support in all areas — working closely with the sales team, finance team and our clients.
Adaptable, courteous and hardworking, Elizabeth has had a varied and exciting career — including working in Asia for an international airline, a trade magazine publishing company and an event management company. After moving back to Australia in 2015, she completed a Diploma in Leadership and Management, then spent the next 6 years growing her skillset and assisting a range of companies with back-office administration duties.
Today, she brings unrivalled communication, organisation and enthusiasm to the AP Group team and clients. Her names often referred to in the context of "Elizabeth will know."
